RE: All season tires- best options?
the Conti Extreme Contact were a good winter tire (almost a snow tire but not) great for frequent light snow or occ heavy snow. but i wouldnt run them year round.
the new falkin 9 sumthin seems like a good ALL season if your not changing for summer.

I love my conti extreme contact tires. No wobbling, tight as can be, GREAT in the harsh NY winters, I only got the TT sideways once...
And that's only because I was on some nice twisties going 70+ MPH in a hairpin. I learned real quick that brakes are bad, and gas will get you straight. heh!
This was with upgraded suspension also, stock suspension didn't have the chance to really test out the NY mountain roads.
They are directional tires though. If they aren't on the correct side of the car I could see how wobbling might become a problem.

What size do you have? And what do you mean about the directional thing? lol

directional tires can only go on one side of the car, meaning they can only rotate one direction and not both

We purchased our 08 tt 3.2 roadster that came with Mic. Pilot sport A/S zero pressure plus on it, 3 years ago, we put 20,000 on them and in the blizzard that stranded 1000's, on Long Island NY, we took that car out to get pizza twice and didn't get stuck. As long as you don't hang up the frame your good to go. Also I had put the Kumo ESTA KU 21 on my wife 2010 Tiguan 4/motion in that same blizzard they drove 48 miles home in 5 hours and told me they drove around countless other vehicles include many 4x4 stuck. Those tires had around 14000 miles on them at that time.

I have run through two sets of Continental DWS 225/45/17 and really loved them.
I have not had one time where they let go on me (even in the rain). The sidewall is a little bit soft, and for some reason they don't seem to last a long time.
The snow traction when new was very good (I'm in CT so we get some snow!). Nifty treadwear indicator (D-W-S) helps to know what your tires are still good for. Obviously the S goes first then the wet, then the dry and its time to change them.
I even auto-crossed these DWS when they were nearly gone and they do hold quite well..
