APR DV and other thoughts
Yo! All -- Bought an 01 225 tt 2 years ago this week. Found this board a year after that and have been slowly sucked in by your collective enthusiasm. Had to see what I was missing so I found an APR dealer and got the chip flashed on thursday. Wow will sum it up. Knowing from this site that a DV upgrade was needed I decided to go with the new one from APR which needs no service . Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this valve? Also will be looking to replace the all too soft intake hose, so how do you get at the bottom connection? Keep in mind I'm no mechanic but I'm willing to give it a try. Thanks and happy holiday to all.
The APR dv is a diaphram valve so it will be faster reacting than a piston vavle like a forge 007, and APR has a lifetime warrenty on it also. If yours somehow tears or just doesnt perform like it should, they will replace it. So you cant go wrong.
To get the bottom connection off the TIP, its best to get it from below while the car is on jackstands. This will give you the most room and best view of what your doing.

I bought the APR DV too. I was going to go with a Bailey, but the design of the APR unit made the most sense. I don't care about the adjustability that the Forge has. I just want something that will work properly and flow well.
With a small (I mean real small) stubby flat tip screwdriver, you can getthe clamp off atthe base of the TIP once all the other connections are off. You've gotta disconnect it all to get the hose off anyhow, but once the rest are off... It's a little easier to get to. I haven't tried from the bottom while up on jackstands... but it is possible from the top. Probably not the easiest way though.
