Default Audi TT 3.2 newbie questions

Hi, i had a few questions regardin an Audi TT 3.2 (Asking for a friend).

I was wondering how many miles can the car accumulate before the oil should be changed? The car currently has 6XXX miles on it, if i remember correctly she said that the oil was changed at 45XX->50XX miles (First change). Should the oil be changed more frequently when the car is new? Before the first oil change the engine seemed to be a bit louder then normal; it seems to be getting louder again...

Also, in the past, the car randomly shut down once (local driving) (Automatic transmission). Is there any logical explanation for this? The check engine light never came on.

I haven't had a chance to ask what type of oil and gas (octane level) she uses.

I apologize first if this topic has been previously discussed. I did a quick search and didn't find anything similar. Responses are much appreciated.

Thanks!

The car should be using full syn oil and on a non turbo, that can go 7000miles +. However it is still good to change it every 5k miles. The engine was louder when it was new since it was breaking itself in, it getting louder now may just be in your head or the exhaust matterial just finished settling.

Not to many people here have a 3.2 so the DSG is not our strong point, ill try to get auditech79 to come in and give his thoughts on the issue. My guess is it sensed something wrong and just shut itself down to prevent wear.

She needs to be using both oil and gas recommended in the manual, otherwise she will have increased wear and poor performance.

Describe the noise the engine is making. Is it just getting louder, or is there a strange noise?
3.2 DSG transmissions sometimes will stall out the engine because its basically an automatic wet clutch design, the computer sometimes can't slip the clutches correctly while on the break in process.

From today's observation it just seemed like a higher/louder engine revving sound. (Not exactly an equal comparison, but deep sound like a 2008 M3). Though she was concerned about it since, according to her, the engine was quieter when it was new, got louder; she changed the oil, it got better, and now it's louder again.

Is it necessary to change the oil more often when the car is new? She told me her friends have been emphasizing that point. Personally i think it's a moot point.

Thank you very much for your help! It's much appreciated!

When an engine is 100% new, the rings will seat themselves and when they do, they make little metal shavings that will go into the oil. You are suppose to change the oil at 500 and 1000 miles after a rebuild. However, i havent heard anyone really do this with a new car purchase

Another thing about the 3.2L engine, it has short and long intake runners. When the engine management decides to open up the short runners for more horsepower it will sound louder and more throaty.
R32 VW's do the same thing.
