Mine is broke too, the other day I went over a bump and the thing opened and since it's so heavy the thing forced its way past the stop and scattered everything. I was able to fix it and I was able to push the lever back on, now I am just real careful about it.

Yep just had it happen to me a few weeks ago. For 5-800 bucks It can stay broken! Howcome they cant just make a replacement piece insted of the entire box
The lever seems to have 2 pegs that hold it in place. The bottom lever is gone and its a pain to open. The lever stays in place if I put it in right but as soon as I gotta open it it will fall right off. Plus the same thing .... the other tab that lets the box come down doesent open all the way either, but when the box is fully open and I pull the lever it seems to function just fine. Ahhhhh!
Ooh well the only time I used my Glove box is when I get pulled over......... Crap I better get it fixed quick! lol

I will mess around with it. Im sure theres a easyer way to fix this common problem without spending a huge lump sum of money.

I;ll see what I can figure out.

Acually once I got it open the Nissan dealership here fixed it for only 65 bucks. They replaced the plastic piece inside and then just charged me for a little bit of labor. Sweet deal!

How to fix the glove box details.
Pry off the right side dash cover and remove the plastic plate with 4 or 5 torx screws to get access to the right side glove box lock pin. The pin is on the door but engages into the side dash.
Push the pin and pull the glove box latch and it should drop open.
Take apart the door from the box, by undoing the torx screws in the box, remove the glove box latch to expose the lock pins and gear wheel, it should be broke of the stud.
Make a stud with a small screw to repair it.
Options are you can drill a hole on the side of the dash and put a small pin in there to unlock the box or put a piece of tape over the right side pin hole to stop it from engaging.
I’m repairing the gear on mine…

Once you have it open you can fix the broken stud with a 6/32 screw, I did this without taking the whole dash box off, just the cover.

It's not that hard to do, I expect it happens a lot because it's just a small plastic stud...
Again:
Pry off right side dash
Remove plate under right side dash
Push the glove door lock pin in and pull the box handle, the door opens
Take the box apart (small hands help!) from the door front
Remove latch plate(watch for loose parts)
Replace gear wheel stud with small screw

Go buy beer with money saved...

See earlier post for photos...

Welll.....I am going to have to try something along these lines.Unfortunately, the person who did my state inspection broke the handle looking for the registration while the gllovebox as locked. They are going to remedy the situation somehow....I cant believe a new one is 560 bucks (genuinevwaudiparts). But, my cylinder still works, so cant I just get a new handle at 80 bucks? All that broke was the stupid cheap bottom plastic post/hinge.

Hi I'm new to this forum and would prefer to make repairs to my TT if I could help it. At any rate, it appears the glovebox in these cars are giving owners fits. I'm no exception, the dealer quoted $600. I read your thread on the quick fix. It appears you posted some photos but they are not appearing. Is there any way I could see those photos?
