The roadster has a storage compartment between the seats.
Aside from the fact that the compartment is too small to hold much, the latch is plastic and will ultimately break. I end up driving and trying to shift with the door open. I have tried numerous temporary and permanent fixes to keep the door closed. Including magnets held with epoxy etc, etc. Eventually they all fail and I am stuck with another annoying issue with the detail of the TT. Things seem either over engineered or designed with no thought to long term usage.
Design issues like this as well as the glove compartment breaking should not be problems on a car like this.

magnets are an awesome idea. Try these: http://www.gaussboys.com/ their neodymium magnets should definitely be able to hold anything you can throw at them...

I've tried similar, they are great but so strong they actually pull off the compartment. The secret is with the adhesive. I started with a super glue and have even tried a 2 part epoxy. Still been unsuccessful.

^I would try getting a series of smaller, round magnets, drilling very small pilot holes where you intend to insert them, use just a bit of gorilla glue to hold them in, and cover the whole strip with felt and a thin extra epoxy layer.

Countersinking them is a good idea.
I'm a contractor, and we use an industrial 2 part epoxy in a tube to hold rebar into concrete. That may be next. If it's good enough for a high rise, it should hold those magnets.ftw.

^also, make sure that the 2 part epoxy is designed to adhere to plastic, otherwise you might have spontaneous failure at a later date,...

My thoughts exactly. My glove box latch is broken, the btwn-the-seats door broken & replaced, the glass is coming out of the convertible top (looking for repair shops), and the passenger door panel is coming apart by the window.

I spoke with Audi HQ and their position was it is out of warranty and they could give me 10% off on any service. BFD.

I am considering small claims court.
