Default axle job umm umm

alright have way to much good news, i busted my axle when the gerease jumped outa a bsted boot and when i turn right its a nice noise n vibration, any wa i decided to go andget an axle which tok days to find cause i hated the 800$ price tag on the dealer part's, anyway i found one for like 125 at Auto Part International which has me in question it looks alike to my audi tt AWP FWD 1.8t. Except the bold in the wheel hub looks different than the one on the new axle. I was wondering maybe i got the wrong part, or just it doesnt mater what the part looks like, and where can i get a socket and press to get the old axle out? anyhelp is appriciated, thanks - kevin

It sounds like you got an 02M axle. If it came out of a 5sp then it is an 02J like your tranny and will work. If it is from a 6sp (GLI/337/29th) it is a 02M and wont work.

I whacked the axle free of the hub with a rubber deadblow hammer. It's not in there too tight.

The driver side axle on mine busted twice, the second timeRedmond Werkshop repaired it under warranty. It happened again2 weekslater after the first incident. It cost me about$400 installed, if I remember correctly. The second failure was because a bolt had sheered off causing the others to loosen. Perhaps they torqued it down too much.

ive had the car on a jack stand for days axle out, waiting on audi to get the new axle seal in. my old one was leaing and autozone gave me the wrong one.what a **** luck week, bumming rides off my girl. i got the audi gease for the spline in the wheel hub, and new bolts for the axle. just waiting on the axle/trann seal that was leaking. i took what ever it is that was held in with one hex bolt out that the axle cnnects to. i think its part of the differential. im just going to squirt some tranny oil on it and a little in the opening and put it back in when i get the new seal if anyone knows what m taling about please help me out its not in the bently manual. thanks - kevin
