can overheating lead to engine not starting?
Ok so ive had a coolant leak for a bit now, i ordered a Timing belt (becasue it overheats at when i stop in traffic) kit and all new coolant hoses. While ive been waiting for the parts ive been adding collant every couple days.
Ive noticed that when i started it up all last week, it would start at about 1200rpm. I didnīt pay much attention untill it dindnīt start up at all yesterday. Is this related just a dead battery or can this be related to the car overheating/leaking coolant situation? thanks

the battery
a battery can be damaged from too much heat. have you had the chance to get your battery tested? how old is it? i recommend sears if you are looking to replace it. the batteries they sell are about the same price as auto zone, o'rileys but they don't have a stupid prorated warranty.
over heating
a small coolant leak shouldn't cause over heating unless you let the coolant get so low that there isn't enough to transfer the heat from the engine to the radiator. also it wouldn't just overheat when you stop in traffic.
its more likely, even if you do have a small coolant leak, that the radiator fan is not turning on when it is should. the reason you don't over heat when moving should be obvious. after you get the battery working start the car and let it warm up. when if starts moving past the first mark past the center toward H look at the radiator fans. also i think there are fuses in that box over the battery that are part of the fan electrical system.
i am having a similar problem still haven't been able to find out what is keeping the fan from turning on. ill let you know when i find the problem. lucky for me i live close to work with few lights so it hasn't been an emergency for me.
