My dashpod threw a CEL. Ran a OBDII code reader (from Autozone) and it read the code P1296. Has anyone had this same problem? I just recently had my timing belt changed along with the water pump, etc.

Recently I was stuck in traffic, and the temperature went past the middle point to the next line. Went back to the middle (normal position) when I started to move.

Any advice?

 

Also, forgot to mention. This only happened once with the temperature reading more than half. Hasn't happened again, but the CEL light is still on.

 

I got the same problem. It may be the thermostat or the you could have a bad coolant temp. sensor. I havent figured mine out yet.
