Central Locking Unit - Window Problem
If something hit the window and caused it to break it can be under the same insurance claim. Thats what happen to me, I just didn't even think about asking for the module to be replaced too. I was able to get the module from $295 from autoecms.com. The top was around $1500. However the ECM is almost double that now. The tops are done by upholstery professionals.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Hello everyone
i have a tt 01 and this is my problem; the alarm does not work... the interior lights do not function as well as the hatch buttons for the gas and trunk... and the windows do not go up or down.
I called several dealers and audi hotline.. many told me it could be the convience control module also known as the central locking unit. No one new where it was. i finally found it after dismantaling the car apart ... under the conv. roof compartiment passenger side.
i took it apart and discovered some corrosion on the bottom part of the pc card. cleaned it but still nothing works.
maybe thats not it so checked again the fuses in the fuse box and all are well. i do not mind ordering a new one but the problem is recoding it. I live on an island where many mech have a hard time reading and reading a computer is even harder.
Does anyone have the codes and which computer is best to read and reprogram the unit if i get a new one. Unless anyone has an idea of something else that would be wrong besides the module.
Thanks for any replies...
Oliver

stand on your knees facing backwards in the passenger seat. The roof has to be up. Look in the compartment where the top rolls back into right behind teh passenger seat. look straigt down and there should be little compartment there. Remove the cover and the ECU is mounted on the back wall with two 10mm bolts. The right tools really help Its not easy to get to, in fact it's border line pain in the ****.
Good luck

i have the same issue and the dealership told me they need the 8N7962267 spare part (control unit).
I found plenty of used ones or new but are the 8N8962267 (which is the same control unit but supposedly for the COUPE)
Question No1 will that (8N8962267) fit in my convertible as well?
Question No2 the stealership asked me for two keys but i ve lost my second one, could i buy an uncut or a used one from the bay and have it programmed?
thanks guys i know its an old topic but the money they ask are allot!

I wanted to post my personal results for future searchers. I found that this thread was very helpful to me when I was searching for the potential issues with many functions not working on my recently purchased 2000 TT 180 coupe.
I replaced my CCM with a used one purchased from e-bay for $100 that had exactly the same part number.
It fixed:
Vanity visor lights completely not working
Map and dome light only working only when the door was open (occasionally stuck on all the time to drain the battery)
Door open indication on the instrument panel
Alarm LED always flashing anytime the doors were closed
Alarm not arming/disarming or honking or lights flashing
Keyless entry not working at all (door locks and trunk release)
Occasional loss of signal/power to interior trunk lid and gas cap cover release
They keyless entry required me to go thru the steps posted on this site requiring two keys. (I did this with a used remote that I bought from e-bay with the same part number)
No VCDS programming was required, just plug and play.
This is not a difficult job, I did it in the dark in less than 1 hour.
My old CCM physically look perfect. No corrosion, no discoloration, no smell. I can only guess that the intense interior heat from sitting outside in the Texas sun for many years somehow caused the unit to partially fail. I bought the replacement from a car in Michigan.

I just finished replacing the CCM in my wife's 225 TT convertible. I could not find a used one online so I purchased at genuineaudiparts.com for $465 (+$40 shipping!!!) With a lot of bending, twisting and contorting...I managed to get it in! All is good. I had all the symptoms I had been reading about...No interior lights, power windows or locks. Convertible top was also powerless. I added a layer of clear tape to help seal the unit in it's very cheap plastic housing with the hope of keeping future moisture out. Note the corrosion on the circuit board.
Thanks to all members of this forum for contributing! I'm sure it saved me quite a bit of money and stealership aggravation!

I think there are four nuts, they are just hard to get to. two on top and two on the bottom This was quite some time ago, but I believe they are 8 or 10mm. We used a small socket with an extentsion. Puty quite plainly it just a pain in the ***. Have you replaced the top yet? That is first and formost.
