Clearance
Hey guys, Eric here again.
On the Audi TT, what is the clearance? Does it vary from year to year? I'm going for the 2000 TT.
Since I live in CO, I wanted to make sure that its not too low to get damaged to absorb a lot of the salt thats on our roads (degredation of parts, ect).
Someone stop me if I'm stupid here however though, I know the ride height can be adjusted by clipping your springs? If anyone owns a 2000 TT, do you like the clearance? Is it low? Medium?
Thanks guys
Eric

It's either 4 or 6 inches of ground clearance. Although I believe it's closer to 4 inches.
I'm originally from NY and drive a 2000 180 quattro. No problems last winter, although I did do a little bit of snow plowing with the TT.
Handles great in the snow, and I did not get stuck anywhere.
You can lower the TT by getting lowering springs or coil overs. Personally I wouldn't clip them, because it leaves more room for error.
I had no problems with the stock ride height, it was the wheel gap that bothered me.
Then a broken spring made it easy to upgrade my whole suspension.

I have a '01 with stock suspension, the belly pan plowed a bit last night driving through about 6" of powder on the roads. With decent all-season tires it does quite well as long as you keep out of the upper rpm range and away from boost over 5 psi or so.
