Either a bulb or the wire that tells the radio when the headlights are on. Either way, not an easy fix. I would try to live with it or go aftermarket radio.

I personally don't like the Audi Concert Radio at all. I think the dealer must have put in a used Audi Radio before selling me the car. According to the 2004 sticker it is suppose to have a Bose Radio and Speakers with a CD changer. Well it doesn't have either. Just Bose speakers which sound ok but the Radio is Junk.
What would bea decent aftermarket Radio that would fit in there and wont cost me a fortune?

My concert radio had the same problem and it turned out to be a bad solder joint in the instrument cluster, got it fixed when i had the cluster repaired.

Bose with cd changer was optional. if your speakers say bose, then your head unit should be programed for bose. if it is and it is the original HU that came with the car, it will say bose in the display when you turn it on. if not, then it can be programmed via vag-com.

CD changers were also an option. I know you could get non-bose with or without the cd changer so it may be possible that you could get bose with or without the changer too.

cheers.
