Default did i put my hoses on wrong for the mbc?

Well, I picked up an MBC.
Looks just like https://www.audiforums.com/upfiles/3...342926A801.jpg

However, I had it closed all the way and went for a drive to test it and it was boosting from 5-10 psi, so something cant be right. Are my hoses backwards? Its all stock other than the DV / MBC. My n75 is still plugged in and is sitting in the intake hose (the one the MAF connects to)

Thats right. Now go make a couple more runs fully closed, then more runs turning it a couple clicks at a time.

my dilema was that i thought it was going to keep my boost at 0psi when closed - i didnt realize it only adjusts the top end of it and that it'll hover 5-10 when closed entirely.

4 clicks = 14psi.

What is the magic number i should aim for on an unchipped 2001 Quattro AWP engine? 14.7? I guess I'll leave it at 14 if so. Honestly, I didnt notice a huge difference between 3 clicks and 4 clicks. they were both ~14. I prolly got the buggy MBC.

Also, what are the runs with it fully closed for?

Leave it at 14psi w/o a chip. If you spike over that, you may hit limp if your there to long. The runs with it fully closed were to set the mbc. Not sure how the gated system works, thats from turbosmart to start of fully closed.

this MBC was from ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...53929&rd=1

i lucked out because i actually needed some of the extra vacuum line because the hose on my FPR cumbled into nothing and i had a huge leak. 24 bucks shipped and it seems to be working okay. Peaks at 14. When I do some more 3rd / 4th runs ill figure out where its holding and what rpm its peaking and holding at.

I have like 6 laptops on my living room floor i need to repair and sell, so back to that i go
