thats whacktronic, scientifically speaking. im not sure, but i dont htink you are th eonly who doesnt have that issue. to keep theifs from using it/having an incentive to steal it, if the head unit loses power, it is supposed to lock up, and ken only be unlocked by entering a four digit code that should be in your manual for the ound system, or ocassinally in the spare wheel well. maybe there is osme difference based on year or bose vs non bose i really have no idea haha

I have a 2000...built in '99 so one of the first built. Perhaps doesn't have that feature in the first model year.

My buddy actually connected my power wire while I was doing the line level converter so I'm not sure just how long he had it off. But I'm positive it was off cuz 1. He wouldn't be dumb enough to connect an amp wire to a live cable lol and 2. My clock/date/etc was reset.

I don't have the original manual. ******* dealership didn't have it, promised to get me a new one and never did...but of course. Maybe I'll check my spare tire compartment before I go disconnecting it again.

I didn't have codes, called Audi USA who put me in touch with the original selling dealership. I called their service & they had the codes based on VIN.

Well I have disconnected my battery several times just to try out to see if i needed battery codes. What Ive noticed if you have the radio on and disconnect you do need the radio codes. If you have it on off, it wont affect the radio at all. Or at least in my TT thats how it works. I have an 01 225

the later cars are fitted with ECU link to that radio and wont work with any other car so the code is stored in the ECU rather than the radio so making it absolutely useless to the thief and a very cool system indeed and used in most cars these days
