stock is .032 and chipped is .028.

Believe it or not, there is a guy on vortex running his 225 with a del rio 2871r kit with stock plugs and gaps [X(]

 

and please check your FPR hose before you spend money on anything else. I've been there before and this was my problem

 

If the car is chipped/tuned than it could be a boost spike. I had something similar happening to me at hard accelleration in first gear.
It was just like hitting the brakes and then it went on again. Installing a Boostmachine or mbc will take care of that problem.
At least it did for me. I am still running stock plugs and gap. I will be getting some new plugs and will gap them at .028 just to be safe.
