Default General questions for a noob

Hello,

I have been considering many cars including audi TT. Right now I have a chance for 2005 Audi TT certified pre-owned for $22k (will try to lower) 180 / Roadster / Black. I want a stylish, affordable, convertible, used. I have seen that 05 models are quite rock solid. I have looked at BMW/HOnda Accord/Mini/Volks...etc. I've test drove Audi TT 4 times (2004/2005).

- I am not necessarily a car expert by any means. Do you need to be one for an Audi TT?? I couldn't take it for an oil change at Wal-mart or anything (haha) right?

-About the only thing I would want to do is put rims. Is there a good site for rims? How much overall does it cost? I don't plan on any other mods.

Do give you insight.... I have a 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera since 2004 that I bought used. It's been reliable but kind of ugly to look at. This would be a big change!

Thanks!!!

great car! i think you would love it.

you need synthetic oil changes which cost more but you can do them less frequently than regular.

make sure the timing belt and associated items are replaced at 60K.

there are plenty of wheels that you can roll on, but they need to be 5x100...

read the FAQ on the top for a HUGE amount of info.

best of luck!!

timing belt job, is a tough for one to do them self. and most garages around my area do it for 650 etc.. with you supplying parts.

Cheapest place I've seen for rims www.edgeracing.com I picked up a set of 18' Flik Artics (in my sig) for $118 a piece. Not too shabby.

Its a good car. You can get your oil changed anywhere... but if your not a do-it-yourself'er then be careful. They can get expensive when they get into the high miles. However, if you like working on cars this one is great to work on. Its very relyable and is very euro, IMO. I love everything about it.

You would want to do other things that just wheels, trust me... for example small things. Wheels, maybe some lowering springs or full suspension just to close the gap. And a chip, just for a little more power. All these things are easy to get for these cars.
