Default HP Question

i have 2 cars, one of them is my 2000 TT QC which has 180hp plus revo tune and HKS blow off valve. my other car is a toyota mr2 spyder with a 1.8 liter motor with vvti. originally the spyder had 135hp but i turbo'ed it and with 8 psi i get close to 240hp. and with 14 psi i get 300 hp. my question is why with my 1.8t audi and 20~22psi i only get 215hp?

i get that the different turbo's make a difference, but if that were the case more TT's would be over 300hp.

is it the vvti feature in the toyota motor that brings up he hp? i dont get why the same size motor would have a very different hp output.

Default RE: HP Question

Probibly the turbo and ecu on our cars:

the k03 turbo = 180 hp
the k04 turbo = 225 hp

The ecu definitly needs to be chipped its a must to gain significant performance on our cars which brings us up 50-60 hp more

the benefit of our cars over toy's or other 1.8 liter engine is that we have stock forged internals, 5 valves per cylinder and capable of running 400 hp with stock internals

so just add a GT28RS, Revo Chip, Intake, Exhaust, and fuel delivery system upgrades and TT's can run in the 300-400 hp range

i already have a k&N intake, revo chip, and a BOV. if i were to use larger injectors and upgrade the turbo and intercooler, wouldn't the revo not be able to run since it was designed for near stock specs?

Well i doubt it wouldent run but wouldent be as efficient as a stage 2 or 3 revo upgrade made for that turbo specs.

stage 2 or stage 3 revo? i'm not sure how they adapt to new conditions IE larger injectors or larger turbo. anyone have any input on this? what "piggyback ecu's" are compatible?

Piggy back is compatible, but it will take long time for not knoledgeble person to tune. but its the easiest way you can do it.
unless you can dig up the fuel and ignition matrix then you in easy business.

it seems like almost no one does it. i called revo and they said it would cost nearly 15,000 for a custom tune because i'd have to fly out a tuner from europe, by appointment and pay all his expenses plus plus. with hondas and toyotas and mazdas, it's so much easier.

you mean to tune the piggy. well if you want to tune it in one shot, like you would chip the car. then ye expensive. but if you do it your self its cheap. all you need is to monitor the A/F ratio by pluging your self into O2 sensor and monitor the Knock sensor voltage. and it may take day up to 3 weeks before you will see the results of tuning, the car perfect. the perfectect power piggy. they are very nice. SMT6 and new SMT7. http://www.perfectpower.com/

SMT7

Enjoy, all you need is a laptop to tune, also can be tuned on the fly.
