INMotion ECU Flash
Has anyone heard of, or had experince with these guys ? http://www.inmotionusa.com/
I'm curious to hear of actual performance gains or other issues. The idea of flash programming via OBDII sounds intriguing without having to yank and send the ECU for programming. Also, decent pricing if it works well.
Thinking of my '01 225 Quattro which is stock at this point.

most chips are now flashed via obd II port. If i was you i stick to the big three for there known power and reliabilty
APR - great all around tune
REVO - more power than apr
GIAC - the most aggressive tune of the 3
They all have their trade offs in power and driveablility so the choice is up to you. But the biggest deciding factor for most is location of the nearest dealer. You dont want to get a tune from someone 100+ miles away and then have an issue and not be able to got back to them or want the latest update, and just want to get your ecu reflashed.

The TT Shop (out of the UK) offers one as well - but it's around $1000
What's nice about the chip flashers is that they will record your stock settings and reflash it back if necessary

But do any of these vendors allow me to flash it myself? I do not have a local shop, so I would rather do it myself. The diesel market and aftermarket American cars sell you the tuner so you can dyi...
You are unlikely to find anyone in the Euro market that has DIY chip tuning. You can send your ECU in to APR or an APR dealer who can flash your chip for you. The other brands GIAC and REVO have similar methods to set up your system.
I happen to like the APR setup I have. They soldered in a chip and I have three programs loaded on it, allowing me to switch programs using the Cruise Control stalk.

From what I can tell, these INMotion guys have two choices. Either send them your ECU, or they send you a programmed machine that you flash your own ECU via the OBD. Once you do that , you return their machine. The cost is $200. One question is, if you flash your own and a dealership clears it or resets ir to factory, or back at zero to start over again? I'm not worrried about Audi's warranty in that I'm beyond that. Could I tell a dealership not to mess withthe flashed ECU settings?
I don't have an APR, Revo or GIAC dealership within a 100 miles anyway, so local help doesn't factor much.

However, if you do not have a way to put your ECU back into stock mode, it will be evident to the dealer if they do any real time logging or put it on a dyno. That may alone give them reason enough to deny a warranty claim. APR, REVO, GIAC have ways to switch back to a Stock program so you can appear innocent when you take it into the dealer.
