Just bought an 05 TT and the clutch is out, what can I do?
I just picked up an 05 TT with the 1.8L 225hp engine. It only has 33k miles on the odometer. The clutch is now slipping pretty bad. I called the Audi dealer and they said that its not covered under warranty nor the maintenance program. They want $3k to replace the clutch. What are my options? I was hoping it was going to be covered under warranty or the maintenance, but they said its not. [:@]
What does the 2005 Audi maintenance cover?

Clutch isn't covered unless it is a defect, but a the problem with a wasted clutch isn't with the car it is with the driver. Too many launches, or not knowing how to drive a manual is how clutches get burned out. How many miles were on the car when you bought it? Have you gone back to the place you bought the car from to see if they will cover any part of it? Your best bet would be to find a local independent shop to do the work and get a second price.

I'm probably going to make some phone calls on Monday to price out a clutch job. I literally just got it, so it has 33k and the clutch is done. I bought it from a broker who found it at the auction for me, so I don't think there is anything I could do. What should a clutch job on a TT be around? I had one done on my Toyota MR2 and that was less than $1k for parts and labor. And those MR2's aren't easy to work on either. The dealer wanting $3k sounded a bit on the steep side. I didn't think it would be much more than my MR2.
well thats a toyota compared to an audi lol. The oem parts are going to be more expensive and they will charge more for labor. Look into an aftermarket setup and then find a reputable shop that you trust doing the install...
1800? for stock oem replacements? including new flywheel? thats very cheap considering most shops say its a 12hr job depending on how much labor per hour is ~60-70...i would charge about 1000 just in labor....its not that hard just time consuming. if your modding your TT get the spec stage 2 or 2+ if not get the stage 1 with steel flywheel
