Most shops should beable to track down what body parts got repaired. They have a special tool that can measure how thick the paint is. It'll give them a good idea what to check (ie: air bags if front end damage).

I too can live with a car being damaged repaired, infact i have built and repaired a number of cars myself as a hobby... however, and this is the important part... the price needs to reflect that it has been damaged before.

Theres no point in buying a car that has obviously been damaged to the point where its needed quite extensive work to repair (you don't know the quality of the repair or parts), when you can buy one that has no history of repair for the same price. For it to be a good deal for me, you have to factor in the damage and the repair into both your purchase price and the knock on effect of any potential re-sale value. Thus for me i would only expect to be paying 2/3's the price of a similarly undamaged one. Granted it may have a clean title, however, if you can see its been repaired, that to me suggests the quality may not be 100% thus could prove to be problematic throughout your ownership.

My advice would be to look at a few others, the market is flooded with medium mileage TT's so you are not restricted by choice... if you think its a good deal then go for it, ultimately its what you think that matters and if you are happy then hats off to you young man.

As it happens i bought a TT that had had some front end work done, he clipped it coming out of a multi-story car park, he had it done via insurance at a top garage, instead of replacing with like for like, he went with all genuine OEM S-line updated newer front end, grills and badges etc.... so there are no stone chips and it looks uber mint! so there are two sides to every story..... however, i took this into account when buying the car. The receipts were for just shy of $7,000 with a lifetime warranty on the repair... i only paid $8k for the car! lol......
