Default my turbo has decided to take a crap on me

Well my turbo makes a nice grinding sound now which I'm not too happy about. My car only has 70k miles on it, but anywaysI guess its time to find a new one. One of my friend's family owns a junk yard so I'm hoping he can find me one. Anyone know ifa golf/jetta/passat turbo will bolt on ( i have a 2000 180q); and correct me if I'm wrong but a k04 off of a 225 won't fit my manifold right?

Have you actually checked out the turbo yet? i would check for damaged fins and play before buying stuff. If you do need one, you can find a used ko3s in the vwvortex classifieds cheap ($100-200). You can use a gti/jetta/TT turbos, but not a4 or passat turbo. The 225 will need all the 225 parts (turbo, manifold, lines, dp and programing.).

just remove the tip and see.

If you do need one, go here and you shouldnt pay more than $200 shipped for a nice used one

How hard/(long does it take)is it to get the tip off, and what tools do I need, I'm at school right now and don't have to many tools so a trip to Autozone might be required. and thanks for the link, but hopefully my friend can get me one for cheap, like free cheap

Think all you really need is a flathead, and a set of metric sockets (7 and 10mm mainly). Nothing a basic set of tools cant handle. If you can get at if from below, it will make life easier.
