Default Need advice..........looking to buy a TT

Im interested in purchasing this 2003 TT 1.8 FWD automatic. 105K miles.

The transmission needs a complete rebuild per seller.

I've asked a local reputable transmission shop and he quoted me (worse case) $1800 for a complete rebuild using Audi internal parts.

From what I've read most people have spent or have been qouted $3500 - $5500 to have the tranny rebuilt. Which one is more realistic for a trusted rebuild?

Is is worth going this route or am I going to has issues again with this transmission? His warranty is only 12 mons/ 12K miles.

For the people who had trans issues before, what route did you guys take to resovle this problem?

Any other input or advice is greatly appreciated.

I have been looking into this myself because the synchros in my tranny are starting to go but based on the above quotes....the 1800 seems reasonable but the 3500 to 5500 I question because for that price you could get a new one or rebuild the one you have with better internals. Shop in New Jersey quoted me $2000 to rebuild my tranny with better components.
