Thumbs up Oil leaking from inside Frame Rail (Lift points dripping)

I noticed a few small drips leaking out from where the rear driver side lift point is. The little rubber pad was litterally covered in this clear oilly substance. It maybe leaks 1-2 drops a day, if the rubber lift point is not cleaned.

The dealer told me it was an anti-rust inhibiator. It's a common problem. Just a heads up incase anyone else has this problem. Pretty cool Audi use it.

does it look like sort of a wax / vaseline mixture? I'd just leave it alone... I think the manual says to put padding on the top of the jack to prevent damage there.

No. It feels just like oil, but clear. It's not thick at all.

never heard of the stuff. black tarry stuff is called cosmoline, usually see it around the seam of the rear bumper and the quarter panel. Theres more of a seam sealer wax that might be clear, but I wouldn't expect that to be dripping unless its really freaking hot.

sealer/undercoat. It's not just an Audi thing, its on pretty much every car produced. It's just a problem on TT's... My car is almost 8 years old, and that stuff is still working its way out around the quarter.

What do you recommend to get it off with?

The rust inhibitor is very liquid-ish even at 32 degrees F. It's identical to oil, but clear. The audi dealership said it was common. I bet mine just "sprung" a leak and a lot of it dripped out at once, rather then slowly. There was enough to clearly see a leak occured. Maybe 2/3's pint leaked out.

I used a Q-tip with a little bit of rubbing alcohol.
