thanks for all the info on different oils,now just wondering what's the proper level to fill up oil,on regular dipstick,add or full,on tt sort of staggered checker board,i figured that proper oil level would be at top of checkered board,i know to some this might be a simple question,but i'm new to the tt world.

 

Fill it to the top of the 'checkerboard'... Bottom of the 'checkerboard' is the 'add one quart' mark. DO NOT overfill, however.

 

^agreed, don't overfill... Also, get a passat oil filter and you'll increase the amount of oil that you can hold

 

check with the manual but I think its 5.5 liters with the passat/large oil filter
