Default service question

Hi guys,

I have bought my TT a few months ago and currently its on 34,000 miles.
When it was at 31,500 miles it showed that it will need a service in 2400 miles. Now at 34,000 miles it shows that it need service in 2700 miles.

Apparently it is kind of messed up and need fixing or something. Any idea when the next service should be (in terms of time and/or millage) and what will need change or check?

Thanks in advance

The service indicator will determine your service interval based on how you drive the car. I think it can go anywhere from 7500 miles to like 12000? miles. Again this depends on your driving style, gas quality, etc. It's very easy to reset if it bothers you.

It doesn't really bother me to be honest. Will ask to take a look at it during service.

So, currently I am at 34,500 miles. I checked the car's service history and the last service was on november 2006 @ 27,500 miles. In the service book it says that the next service should be in november 2008. But I have read that there should be a service on 40,000 miles. In addition I have this service indicator that initially was pointing me a service at 35,000 miles.

I am kind of confused here. So, my actuall question is: Do I go for the november 2008 service or 40k miles service if I reach 40k before november? Should I ignore 35K entirely?

Thanks a lot!

I've been wondering the same thing lately. The last time I took my car in was a few months ago at the 35K mimark (just an oil/filter change). I'm currently at the 40K mi mark and I have an appointment for the full 40K mi service. But when I check the service interval on my car, it says "service in 5400 miles". If I listened to that, I would be going well over 10K mi on one oil change, and that cannot be right.

So what's the verdict? Should I go for a service in 35K or wait until the 40K? The car has been serviced @ 27.5K miles

Most of us on here "service" our cars ourselves, most likely more than required.
The "verdict" would be learn to do the routine service on your own, however if you simply look at your maintenance manual, I would say your next service should be at 40,000 miles. That would be oil - filters - plugs - all easy enough to do on your own.

Thanks for the reply. I will definitely not do it on my own as I have no idea and the last thing I want is to ruin the car. I just wanted to know when I should go for it.

For anyone interested, I asked AUDI in London for a service and it starts from £480.... what a rip off!!!

I service my own and reset the service message, its easy to do. To reset mine (2004 a4) hold the "wrench" button beneath your gauge cluster , turn the key to the on position "don't crank" and then hit the reset/clear button (next to the wrench). This will clear the "Service" reminder. Saves you money.

At 40K you should be doing the Haldex oil and filter as well. That should be done regularly at 20K intervals.
