Default Should I be Pissed? Cluster Issues Again.

I just got the cluster replaced in my 01 225 about 3k miles ago. It was under warranty, so I only had to pay a $200 deductable. But now, the temp guage, every now and then, has a very slight twich in it. For example, I'll be driving the car for 30 minutes, temp is the same (according to my liquid tt)... but the temp guage moves about 2/3's of a notch lower. The actual temp is not changing according to the liquid tt. After two minutes, the temp guage is back to directly virtical, then two minutes later its back slightly lower.

Keep in mind, 2/3's of a notch is a very small movement... but do you think it's a sign of a problem down the road? My old broken cluster had this problem, but it was much worse, it would move 2 full notches. I've been thinking about calling the dealer I had it replaced again.

What do you guys think?

id call, because anything less than entire notch of movement is error as far as I know. Have you checked/replaced the coolant sensor to make sure you have the green top. If you are unsure what I am talking about, check the faq or search, gl

I haven't checked the coolant sensor, but it shouldn't matter if the liquid tt guage doesen't change... right? Or do they take readings from a different location?

good point. also, you can always check your instant or smoothed channels though hvac (recirc + up arrow), then cranck left **** till says 49 or 51 c, and then hit recirc arrow again, will dispaly coolant temp. but...yeah i think they grab info from same spot

I noticed something funny last night because mine went to 1 notch over. One half of one degree will make the notch on the gauge go up. I was reading mine on the hvac and when the temp went to below 100c then it went to normal and as soon as it went to 100c bam 1 notch no matter the temp after that. The hottest it's ever gotten was 107 but still only one notch over. That should tell you something... that's it's not proportional.

Exactly the info I needed. I'll keep an eye on mine for a few days via the hvac controls. Thanks guys.
