forgive my ignorance on this topic, but what is the difference? I thought the K03 was a direct swap for the k03s? are the mounting points different sizes?

Both the housings are different on the longitude (A4/Passat) vs transverse (TT, gti, jetta) plateform. The ko3 is the same as the ko3s but the ko3 has 11blade compressor wheel and doesnt have that canister on the compressor outlet.

thanks, thats is a perfect picture! so the housing is different, and I need a housing from a transverse engine.

Alternately, if you had a manifold made to fit the k03 from the passat, would that work too or are all the angles for the pipes wrong?? (I'm trying to better understand this.)

Also, is it possible to swap the housing from one turbo to use it on another?

I'm trying to figure out why its such a pain to use a k03 from a passat, when someone else can use an aftermarket garret turbo (or is that housing specific to transverse engines?)

sorry for all the questions. ;-)

The housings will swap if you have the same size wheel housings.

You cant use that setup since the manifold puts the turbo on the other side (right vs left side of engine) and both housings are completly different

This is how a longitude setup is

verses a transverse housing

you can see the outlet on the trasverse is down vs to the side on the longitude.

If you didnt know, a transverse engine goes like this

rear of car

1-2-3-4

front of car

and a longitude engine goes like this

rear of car

4
3
2
1

front of car
