Default Standalone?

I've done a bit of reading today on a Standalone EMS. Mainly i found AEM's universal set up (seems too expensive) and 034 Motorsports product as a universal set up for 4cyl. I have plans for BT and believe this would be a good option in the long run, any input on this would be helpful.

Most people use the 034 IIc in the vw/audi world. But depeding on what you plan on doing, a full standalone maybe overkill. ANd if you have emissions, its going to be hard to pass

Thestuff I've read seems to show that you can only go so far with an upgraded ecu. That for full hp gains you would need a standalone but i have read that a good flash w/ lemmiwinks and a laptop should be enough. Emissions isn't really a problem i have a good "friend". I plan on doing the GT2871r kit in the near future.

I'll see if I can get you in touch with my friend Tom, he is/was a dealer for 034, I'd expect he could answer some of your questions.

honestly, you can see better gains with a standalone, but on a 2871r it isnt worth it. There are great tunes made just for that turbo on this car and you can maximize those tunes with lemmiwinks. If your not atleast going with a turbo in the gt30 family, its not really needed. The cost/benifiet is not in your favor.

Good to know,I want to keep a daily driver w/o too much lag. The bigger turbos (30's)aren't what I'm looking for. I've got a 180 w/ FWD and those seem like too much for my car.

Thats the oneI was looking towards getting. I've been educating myself on the different types we can use by doing some reading throughout our helpfull forum and this one seems to suit my tatse.
I'll definitely checkout pagparts.
Thanks

if you ever think you may go bigger, you might want to consider a T3 .63 instead since you will have better options if you change your mind later.
