Default standalone

i got thinking after tom suggested he is going to run a standalone. if u run this setup, wouldnt u be able to run a bov? since u are able to fine tune everything, if the car would run lean(i believe) couldnt u just use the standalone to override that and make the adjustments to even it back out? or would u be causing dmg to ur engine by tricking the ecu?

HAHAHA, this post is great, don't take it personal. I bet you tons of people are going to be researching standalone just so they can run a BOV. And if someone actually got standalone just so they could run a BOV, man i would be speachless. Ough yeah standalone is not cheap at all, I've seen them for 2g's.

Well I'm going with 034efi, and i think it runs off the supplied map sensor so it might not even read the maf, I will find out on tues or wed when i start installing. I am def going to keep my bpv though. It is 1100, then you need 16v plug wires, 2 twin tower coils, a wideband (lm-1), and a ton of tuning time, and research.

i was thinking about going to an AEM standalone, the universal unit. i have a good amount of experience with them and like the way they run, plus its only like 2 x the price of a chip. we run the standalones in our race cars and i love the interface.

**** man just run your bov without any tuning or anything! its not going to blow your motor! collective my brother and i have been running bovs on our cars for about 10k, no problems at all, plugs look great, and as soon as i get off my lazy *** i will hook up my wideband and bring some data to back up my beliefs.

you know what, **** it. im going back to work right now to pick up my wide band, im gettin up.

a standalone, would be overkill if you just want to run a BOV, i'm guessing a open atmosphere like the HKS SSQV, if you want to you could use a piggy back such as the APEXi SAFC2, i don't know how it would work with a A4, but it is a universal item so it should be fine, if you wire it up properly

it has a function that controls the air soo when the engine suddenly loses air due to blow off it won't stall, it worked great on my sr20det, 240sx

most alones will work fine as they convert the engine to map sensor and no longer use the maf, which is the cause of the problem for the most part
