Tail/break light
O.k. So I know that Audi parts are expensive... but I just received the warning light that my break light is out. I called the local Audi dealership and they tell me the break light is around $5... so I thought, great... that's no big deal. She then proceeds to tell me its $50 to take the tail light off. Can anyone tell me if this is something that I can do myself, or is it that involved that I need to pay $50 to change a $5 light. Just wondering!??!
Depends on your mechanical abilty and tools. It can be a do it your self job. If you want to take a look at what youd have to do pry open the cover in the hatch area. Theres a couple of nuts that have to come out and then the taillight pops out.
I just changed a tail light/ brake light in my tt yesterday.(left side) It is a pretty simple job. here is what i did
1. Pry open cover in the corner of trunk.
2. Take the two nuts of that are closest to the trunk. ( these should come out with hands but try allen key)
3. There is a white square on the far side. There are clips on the top and bottom of it and u squeeze them in and pull the tail light out. the whole assembly will come out.
4. Take the two screws of on the back of the assembly to get to the bulb.
