Hopefully new TT owner here...

Looking to purchase a used 2002 coupe - yesterday neither of the keyfobs would lock/unlock the car (although keys worked fine to start it).

Is it normally just batteries or could something else more serious be an issue ?

Just want to know as I'm negotiating the purchase...

You can reprogram the keys easily. You put the key in the door lock, turn all the way to lock... hold in the lock position, and hit the lock button. Turn all the way to unlock, hold in that position, then hit the unlock button in the fob. That should work. Either way, get them to knock the price down because if it. Also, make sure that the timing belt has been replaced if it has more than 60k miles on it.
