Default vaccume leak

i had an intermittent CEL p1136. I finally found a torn hose under the intake manifold. Its the part of hose that goes between a check valve and vacume pump, the vaccume pump really just looks like an odd barbbed fitting. This looks like a specialty hose and its really hard to get to. Can i use a generic hose to repace this? If not what is the part number for this unit? im pretty sure this is the cause of the CEL because its obviously torn right where it goes over the barbs for the vacumme pump fitting.

Are you talking about a vacuum line or larger hose? If its a vac line you can just replace it with some silicone hose (handles the heat better) and if its the larger hose, you can replace it with another peice of heater hose unless its a special section in that case you can find what you need at ecstuning.com

you know ive been runnin this code for ever now, and i was just wondering other than a Check Engine Light, what are the other side effects from a torn vaccum hose leak? I was told that or either a front O2 sensor.

Default pcv problems

About a week ago I asked about the hose under the intake, now I know its part of the pcv system. Below is a picture of achttung's removed pcv mess to illustrate what part i am talking about. I repaired the split in the hose that fits over the barbed fitting on the left side of the picture by wrapping it in rubber hose repair tape and clamping it with a hose clamp. I noticed a difference immediately. my car pulled harder than ever. the check engine light never went away(p1136). now, slowly my boost is going away again. I can actually hear the boost leaking past the DV. Is there a DIY for deleting the pcv crap under the manifold?

hey cincy, would it be a good idea to clean out hoses for vac lines and whatnot as a matter of inspection and a one time service to the vac/boost systems?

is this code an 'intermittent O2 sensor' issue? i have got a similar code, can't remember the number, but changed the MAF and checked around the engine bay, changed plugs etc all for the APR reflash, could it be i have a vac leak instead?... usual culprits would be where?

thanks in advance..... oh and who has the ability to do a leak down test and how much does it cost?

i pretty much posted a parts list in the thread I posted that pic in, so that should get you started. If you didn't want to go with stainless braided hose, you can adapt your fittings and hose to a barbed fitting and rubber hose. That'll save you the trouble of removing the valve cover.

I don't have any pics of the process really, but the guys at audiworld love taking pics of everything.

DIY for replacing the OEM PCV stuff with new OEM PCV stuff, same sequence of removal/installation applies for a lot of what you'll be doing - that writeup doesn't go thru with removing the intake manifold, which I did, for more working room, and to clean the manifold, and area under it even better. Thats your call though.

I'll answer any specific questions you have as well, so feel free to ask.

Oh, one thing I'd do different... right off the top of the block breather, I have a straight hose fitting. A 90° fitting is a little more expensive, but the hose would fit a lot better under the manifold with it.
