This was weird...
LOL. I love it. And, achTTung is right... when you're breaking them in, you need to do it progessively, but not being afraid to rev it all the way. You can't just keep it under 3000 rpm for 500 miles and then all of a sudden gun it. It's a progressive thing.... 2700... 3000... 3300... 3600... 3900... 4200... 4500... you get the point. And don't take too long to do it, either... and! make sure to let it heat up and cool down before and after each drive.
the whole heat cycling thing doesn't apply as much anymore, since parts are mated so much better than they used to be. Biggest deals now is not waiting too long to run it hard (for a new engine). Its good to let the engine warm up to operating temp, and then start getting on it. You don't need to rev it out, thats not good, but put some load on it. The more load on the cylinders, the more force pushing the rings out to seat on the cylinder. Also consider that this break in is flushing machining gunk, and tiny metal debris out of your engine and into your oil. On a fresh engine, I'd change the oil and filter after the first 500 miles.
i don't see that many tt's where i live, and the ones that i do drive by don't waive back. There are a couple people at my college who have them, but i have yet to meet up. Still waiting for an opportunity to meet with AchTTung (he doesn't live to far from me, but we both have busy schedules). btw, watched your illion gorge video, it came out pretty good, i know a few roads where all the windmills are that we could get some good footage and photos.
