So, I got my mom a couple hanging flower baskets for mothers day. I put them in the trunk and when I got home and took them out, ofcourse they left a little mess to clean up. So I got the vac out and began to clean it out... lifted up the rear trunk floor and found the reason why my car has been smelling musky after it rains.

The spare tire is covered in a nice white colored mold [:'(][:@]I did a little cleaning and checked everything out... took the bottom of the back seat out and found it has a nice big stain on it from it getting wet... obviously my hatch is leaking, if only I knew where...

 

and what do you know... its pouring outside! [:@]

 

well, good opportunity to see where the leak is?

 

mine was taking on water from an antenna leak.

 

Well I haven't found it yet... tested the seal and seems to be fine. I don't have a antenna so thats out. I guess it has to be the tail lights or gas cap...

 

have a buddy sit in the car and spray it with the hose

 

dump it into a medium sized pool spin it slowing and look for bubbles - there you have it [&:]

 

Yea that worked perfectly in my friend's civic...

 

Check the seal around the spoiler. You may have to pull back the hatch cover trim to see if it is leaking around the bolts that hold it in place. Another possiblity may be around the gas cap..
