My A4 is taking on water....HELP!!
Hello Everyone!
I was hoping for some help. My 2000 A4 has developed a leak of some sort so that water accumulates in the rear passenger footwell after a hard rain. The water accumulation is most evident when I park on my driveway, which has a considerable incline.
I searched google and watched some video on how to clear the drains in front of the firewall. They were filled with tons of decomposing leaves, etc. I removed all that junk, tested the drains, and they seemed to work fine. I was looking forward to the next rainfall!
As it turns out, my hopes were dashed. Last week, we had a downpour and when I got into my car to go to work, there was almost 2 inches of standing water in the rear passenger footwell again.
I then looked at the sunroof drains, and was able to thread a weedwacker cord through the front drains. I tested them and the water flowed freely out of the outlets near the front door hinges.
I have not had a chance to check the rear drains, since it neccessitates removing the rear bumper, something I am not really looking forward to.
Is there something I am missing? Is there any other thing I can check? I am afraid of the damage that continued moisture might do to my floor pan, carpet, and the passenger seat assembly.
Sorry this is so long. I appreciate reading this far!
Thanks!

I had a leak and it killed my driverside seat sliding motor. that motivated me to find it. so get a partner with a waterhose and soak areas of the car for 5-10 minutes where you are looking. and you will find it. The leak is probably coming from one of those grommets up under your cowl
I have a '99 A4 Avant and have the problem of rainwater collecting in a large puddle in the rear left side passenger footwell - front passenger is dry, so far! Firstly, my A4 doesn't have a sunroof, secondly the drainage ducts at the front of the car have been cleared, thirdly - we've tried the 'playing a hose over the car' trick but nothing could be detected. Is the rainwater getting in behind some panelling? Anyone got any ideas?
