You're referring to a part of the entire plastic closeout cover. If that cover is cracked anywhere, there is a possibility of water getting to the pollen filter.

You were wrong in what you said was there. The opaque white thing should be a clear window to where the VIN is. Mine was cracked and half missing so I cut it out completely.

why does audi plastic suck so much? it's just like the F'ing plastic, orange dipstick holder for the oil dipstick. That thing was so brittle that when I checked my oil for the first time, it just crack all the way down the side of the holder in my engine, and then the handle broke off the actual dipstick so basically I was left with a piece of brittle plastic in one hand, a piece of metal that should have had the brittle plastic that I had in my hand at the end of it, a cracked dipstick holder in my engine, and a car that I couldn't drive until I got a new dipstick holder and dipstick. It sucked haha Audi get on the ball!
