My driver side has a similar problem. Upon inspection, the plastic connector that attaches the cable to the take up reel was cracked causing the cable to slip snarl and snag. Apparently the only way to fix is to replace the entire regulator.

Unless, is there such a thing as a TT window regulator repair kit?
Maybe fabricate something... ??
