I was driving my car on wet streets and in hard acceleration car missfired. I though it wasa slight wheel spin since the ground was wet. I got to were i was going and shut it down. I left about 5 hours later to go home and at about 7 miles through town again getting on the freeway the car sputtered again but ran fine on the freeway for about a mile or two until i got off. I started up a hill in second gear and gave it the beans and once it started pulling hard the car started sputtering. then ran weak like on 3 cylinders anther mile or so until i was home. I got it in my garage and it sounded like a WRX... it was definately missing and smelled like burnt oil. I immeidately checked the oil and coolant for mixing and nothing. Car wasn't leaking anything... never had a problem with this car since ive had it for 4 years. it has 80400 miles on it. please help. mabye coil packs, ignition, .. damn don't know on these cars. if it were a 1970 gto i could fix it but this ...nope... again please help...jm

 

If the CEL was flashing, it was misfiring. Have the codes read.

 

No the Check light was not on and isn't. I just went out to start it and it started right up no light, ruff idle. Maybe head gasket?...

 

Okay i fixed it. It was a bad coil pack, however the check light never came on even when i wasunplugging coils.. it wasn't drive but a quarter mile... all is weel going to go get a new one now.

 

you would get a flashing cel if it did misfire, it probably was just running very very crapily
