Hi, im new here on audi forum. I have an 01 A4 1.8t Quattro. I decided to rebuild my engine for many reasons. too much to explain. but while buying parts I decided to build my engine to a 2.0 stroker. my question is, will my engine run fine using stock programing or APR stage 1 tune? I have the tune now. I also have all the parts for my build. waiting on the pistons as they are on back order. will my engine run fine this way, or do I need a special tune? engine code is awm. my plan with this build is to do the main/ internal parts now, and get the big turbo and better tune over the summer.

please any info would be appreciated. thanks

 

Running a 2 liter on 1.8 programming wouldn't be a good idea. That is a lot more air coming in. On the other hand, if you were to try it, you have the best engine to do it with. Personally, I would make sure I keep a close eye on my afr's and limit boost to 10psi (through a manual boost controller). I think it will work decent. The AWM ecu is wideband and able to adjust fuel a bit more

 

haha you found me here! I plan on getting a bigger turbo and tune later over the summer. for now I want to focus on building the insides as good as possible. all internals are hi quality. but Convincing the wife to let me spend alot more money on a turbo and tune is the hard part. I had to rebuild the engine, so I figure I can do the stroker for not much more $. I figure I can convince her to let me over the summer! Durring the winter I get a $3/hr pay cut. I miss my ride and dont want to leave it sit that long. right now I am driving a 95 A6 wagon with almost 300k miles on it. and heat dont work for sh°°! I am going crazy waiting. Im sure you know what I mean!
