I found a 98' 5-speed avant for 2,500. Rust and dent free.

It has new : Timing Belt, Throttle Body, Intake Air Temp Sensor, Wheel Bearings all around and exhaust. (Don't know if just a muffler, or the whole thing)

Only thing wrong is the radio's backlight flickers. (Loose wire?)

Its going to be detailed tuesday, I will be looking at it tuesday night. I plan on purchasing this one.

I agree with everyone else here that it's a great deal. However, you also need to stop and consider that you're buying a twelve year old car with high mileage. The A4 is not cheap to repair, unless you do everything yourself. Even then it's not all that cheap.

Some tough questions to ask yourself:

1) Can I afford to spend thousands of dollars repairing things that go wrong in the next five years?

2) Do I know of a reputable independent mechanic to whom I can bring my car when things go wrong?

3) How motivated am I to learn how to repair this car myself?

4) Can I afford the time and invest the money for the tools to do repairs myself?

I'm not trying to talk you out of buying what sounds to be a super Avant, I just want to be realistic about what you can expect as an A4 owner.

I love mine, but she is expensive to repair and maintain.

Good luck!

Lol that's a very good point, I've been doing work on an 84 Monte Carlo and it's so ridiculously easy compared to my A4, I almost feel sorry for it.

Look over in Vermont, there are many monties under 1,200. (Most running and what not)

I had a BMW 323i, that I made a few mistakes, and well needless to say crashed. I did most of the work myself. It was a good car overall, but kept on having problems, from blowing bulbs every two seconds (yes I know simple fix) to window motor, to fuel line leak to foweling many, many plugs. The only thing I didn't do myself was replacing the clutch.

I also don't plan on having the Avant that long, concidering I go through cars like socks. I'm 17, I've been driving for 2 years had have had 6 cars. 5 I have wrecked, the Escape is the only thing still in once piece.
