Default 2.8 Performance Parts

I will be driving soon and I want an A4, but my dad wont let me get a 1.8t due to the turbo, so I am looking at the 1999 2.8 and was wondering if they make any performance exhaust, intake, or ECU for these because I cannot seem to find any. And it would also be very helpful if you could tell me if these are nice cars what to check over when buying them and about how many miles they run until.
Thanks alot.

yes sir, exhaust meaning the whole system or just the muffler? many people get the magnaflow 14815 mufflers which sound like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsbTn6ztt8E you don't need an air intake since the stock one supplies more then enough air and getting the aftermarket intake is just pointless on this car
i don't know much about ECUs but there are a couple that you could get but the wont supply you with much power at all. the 2.8 doesnt have many things that you could do to it, if you are looking into moding get the 1.8t

G2 supercharger or nitrous. anything else is pretty much pointless.

If I would just get a bigger filter would it suck more air in, or is the stock filter already pretty big?

Superchargers are quite pricy

The stock intake will flow enough air for more power than you'll make without doing a ton of work. an aftermarket intake will just be louder.

Yeah, they're expensive. Pay to play.

Will the Magnaflow muffler add any HP, or does it just make it sound better?

your 2.8 won't be fast. you need $$$$ to make a noticeable difference. mufflers will sound faster but won't be faster. just get the car and slam it to the ground, that's cooler than being quick anyway

As stated, to go faster, it takes quite a bit of money, or nitrous. If your dad won't let you get a 1.8T then nitrous is probably out of the question. Aftermarket breathing parts have minimal effect on this engine although the cone filter is worth it for the sound and the fact that you won't ever have to buy another air filter. The ECU from www.speedtuning.com is a nice mod for the 2.8 - smoother power delivery, a midrange torque bump that you can feel, and a higher rev limiter all make the price very reasonable.

This isn't a bad situation for you. Learn to drive - really drive - and then get a car that you can modify for power. You can still do plenty to a 2.8 for style, handling, and braking. That will make the car quicker from A to B and will make it more fun.
