So i am having a problem with my engine...there is a loud knocking sound in the engine and there is no oil in the top of the engine. The oil pressure light is not on and I have already tried an oil change. I was told that the oil pickup tube is clogged and replacing this and the oil pump can solve the problem. Is this accurate or do i have a larger problem?

 

If you have no oil getting to the head then it is most likely a clogged oil pick up or the great sludge issue.

Have you had someone put on a gauge to test how much oil pressure you have when it is running?

 

well i just bought the car but the previous owner said that the oil pressure was very close to normal when it is running
