Default 30V burning smell?

Hey everyone...

I would like to see if anyone has any idea what this could be? I have a 2000 A4 2.8 Quattro, that used to be mine but is my sisters now. I am still very much an Audi fan and love driving the car.

Well a few days ago after starting the car, I noticed a burning smell...I immediately popped the hood and noticed a small amount of smoke, very small, coming from behind the airbox... I removed all of the covers and couldn't find anything...the smoke kept coming out but at the same rate, very light...

Right now it is at Audi....

BTW the car has 99k and is extremely well maintained...i bought the car with 40k and babied it since...oil changed every 3k...and maintenance to the highest extent...I changed the ignition coil about 2k miles ago as well as plugs and wires...but the smell isn't coming from any of those parts...

Any idea of what this could be?
Any help would greatly be appreciated!!

Thanks...

wut he's trying to say is your valve cover gasket is leaking and oil is getting on the exhaust manifold. it's a very easy fix, the VCGs are about 30 bux and it's about 10-10mm bolts on each valve cover. that's the most common problem and i hope your's isn't something else.

I'd be willing to bet that way too. Take off the beauty covers and look to see if you see signs of oil seepage below the valve covers, on the side of the heads. That's a sure-fire indication that you're having VCG leaks. $25 each side from ECS Tuning and easy to change.

ya...when you change the cam seals, your gonna have to replace the valve cover gaskets, cuz you'll need to open that to get to it...perfect time to replace your spark plugs too while your at it...

My cam seal's are leaking and I have the new one's but I am too scared to attempt to do it haha. What's involved? I thought it was something you had to remove the cam or something to do.
