Default 4 spoke steering wheel removal??

I am trying to put in my 3 spoke s4 wheel and I can not get the airbag off of my 4 spoke. I've searched and found nothing. I don't have the 2 torx of the bag of the wheel. All of the diys online show the removal with the 2 torx on the back. Can anyone help me out?

The two Torx are the first step. Then there are release clips that have to be popped inside with a flathead screwdriver. The screwdriver goes in along the vertical seam (between the upper and lower left-side spokes) and pop the clip. Repeat on the right side.

I have only read about this unfortunately, I haven't done it myself so I can't give you any more than that unfortunately, but Keith fumbled around inside his and found them blindly and got the bag off.

My airbag popped right off when I removed the two torx screws, no prying necessary. Make sure you have a prefacelift 3 spoke steering wheel. A facelift wheel will NOT fit your 97.

Don't make the mistake I did .

I don't have the torx on the back.
The 3 spoke wheel does and that airbag pops right off.
I cant get my current airbag off.

Are there two holes on the back of the 4 spoke wheel?

The screws are not visible like they are on the 3 spoke wheel IIRC. They are recessed inside the plastic of the wheel. Use an extension and feel around in there, the screws are there.

On my four-spoke, I had to turn the wheel 90 degrees to access the torx holes on the back of the wheel. Before that I couldn't find the holes because the steering column plastic obscures them.

I bought two torx 30(?) screwdrivers to get the the torx bolts out, because the bolts in my case were recessed a couple inches. Getting the airbag cover back in place is the hard part, and having two torx screwdrivers helps.

The reason I was taking mine off was to straighten the steering wheel out after an alignment. I ended up doing it like four times before it was right. Pain.
