As the B5 vehicles become older, it is increasingly difficult to find quality parts as many of the OEM suppliers to VAG now make most of their parts in China.
It may be a bearing from SKF or ***, but they are no longer made in Germany. So it is either Eastern Europe or China...

Got a phone call from Jim Blau the president of blauparts he called in concern about everything that has happened he said he is going to try to make this right he doesn't want me Unsatisfied. And he also says he is going to try and et his supplier to try and reimburse me for labor
Its great that Blau is acknowledging that they are more than just a broker here. But I have to say, we are part of the problem. We all shop for the cheapest part we can find, Blau does their part and provides that, and then we all get offended because we got the cheapest part we could find. I've done it (it was a cam seal, how bad could someone scew that up...right?), we've all done it.
Two bad parts from that kit in 250 miles is just shitty. I hope Blau does something for you. Lets all just recognize that we are getting what we ask for in this stuff.
