Default 97 2.8 wont start

I have a 97 2.8 a4 that the only way it will start is if I have the gas pedel to the floor once it starts if I take my foot off the pedel it dies. I tried hanging the igniter and nothing the car will not start. The only code that it gives is mass air sensor code. Any ideas?

Thanks

sounds like you pump isnt working your prob forcing gas in it by opening the gas pedal all the way and the engine trying to suck it in test your pump

SAP what do you mean by that even if his maf is bad the car will start no matter what its a gas issue to the engine if the car starts and turns off thats always a gas issue and we all know the pumps do go bad mby his filter is clogged
