98 a4 lacking power at 2.5 rpms..
hi guys i just turned on my car and when i give it throttle, if i hold it at about 2.5 rpms the revs seems like it wants to go down. like if the car was lacking either power, maybe a vaccum leak or fuel delivery failure?. but if i give it enough gas it passes the 2.5 mark but somewhat forced. ive had problems with the secondary air system in the past, the air pump would stay on overnight and drain my battery, so i disconnected the relay next to the ecm and it cut off the secondary air system turning on at night. Then i completely forgot about it. could this have anything to do with it? also i believe the relay is bad so i will replace asap and see if it fixes anything. any help appreciated, any similar problems or someone that has encountered this problem help!!.
things only mess up for only two reasons... u mess with it or just normal wear and tear... i would replace that relay and put it back if i were you... then check around for any loose grounds... the air pump could be shorted out somewhere causing it to run hot at all times... if your car has a check engine light plug a scanner in there and see if u can extract any info from there as well... the air pump though doesnt do anything but get rid of HC and CO from your exhaust gasses... so maybe it sounds like you have a restricted injector or bad coil/spark plug/ plug wire or something like that... good luck~!
