Default 98 Audi a4 1.8t headlight removal???

Ok so I'm trying to take off the main headlight (I don't need the turn signal one off) and I found the two screws on the top of course but it won't come out. I have read there are more screws but I have looked an looked and havnt found any attached to the headlight. Please help!

These are the 2-piece reflector headlights, correct? Much easier to get them out if you take the corner lights out too. The corner lights just pop out. When I did the 2-piece to 1-piece headlight conversion on my old A4, there were four bolts holding the headlight housings in place: The two you mentioned on top and then two more on the bottom. The bottom two were impossible to get to without removing the bumper, which is annoying.

My 98 just had one torx in the side that needed to be removed. Remove the turn signal and look at the side I bet you will see one

Like audinoob, mine was also this way. I think the four bolt setup was in 96 and 97, and that 98+ were three bolts.

Actually now that you mention it, I recall having this convo with you back when I first made that DIY thread. Makes sense though, 4 bolts is way overkill for headlight housings, and having to take the bumper off to get to half of them is just plain stupid.

Is there any extensive post on removing the passenger headligt from an '01 with the 1.8T?

After removing the intake air duct that attaches to the grill, it seems as though there must be a LOT that needs to be removed to uninstall the passenger headlight, right?

Thanks!

Nothing to it. Unplug the harness from the back of the lamp housing. Remove the two bolts through the top tabs on the housing. Look on the fender rail next to the headlight - there's a hole there. Down through the hole is the third bolt. Loosen it (don't think you actually have to remove it), then pull the headlight out - pull it out enough to remove the turn signal bulb, then remove it the rest of the way. Use a T30 Torx bit for all headlight bolts.

Thank you!

Do I need to remove all bulbs before lifting the headlight assembly out of the car, or are there disconnects for the high- and low-beam bulbs?

I need a new headlight assembly, as a shop broke mine for me....

I need to remove the assembly to remove the attachment to the bulb, to confirm if it's a D1S or D2S, right?

Again, thank you for your help!

Oh, I am not authorized to post. Have can that be remedied?

Finally, can I search for a headlight by vintage, such as B5, or is that just a matter of how a seller listed the item. It seems as though search results includes items that match ANY WORD in the search field, no?

No, just unplug the harness and you're good. If you have factory HIDs, you need a 4300k D2S HID bulb. If you have halogens, get an H7 bulb. A headlight from any B5 with one piece lights will work (model year range 99.5-01.5).
