and the learning continues...

point of clarification for any other newbie reading this thread:

the APR Stage 3 kit, for the A4 B5 models does NOT come with the GT2871R turbo. The APR Stage 3 kit for the A4 B5 models comes with the GT28R turbo. Which is part of the GT2860 model series from Garret. The APR Stage 3+ kit comes with the GT28RS.

Thanks to Mike2ptZero for helping me with this. And God help the folks at APR, who when asked on separate occasions, provided two different answers regarding the turbo in the kit.

And a quick plug for Mike, since he was so damn helpful to me. He has an upgrade kit he is working on to take the GT28R up a notch: 68mm HTA Upgrade for your GT28RS and GT2871r turbo So people like myself can squeeze a bit more, without having to replace the turbo entirely. Shoot him a PM or call for more info, as he is still working on this for the GT28R with FP.

It would be cool to get a road comparison between the apr stage3 and a fully tuned Fh4 kit. and see just how different the two are when it's actually putting power to the ground.

They never give up a straight answer. I know from experience, trust me. I also have a email that will contradict what turbo they told you.

Yup, that's right.

Car runs really well. Not going crazy with it till I get passed the 500mi break-in.

FMIC is still TBD - getting built by 034 and then needs to be shipped. End of the month is my guess.

As far as performance goes, I'm pretty pleased. It's obviously a big difference from stock. My hope is that with the APR kit, I haven't lost any reliability, and I won't need repeated tuning. So far, it runs like a top.

Next on the list (besides the FMIC): jhm short shifter, headlights, led interior lights, interior doors (g-d damn grips), other interior work, and custom sub box. I'll be keeping the stock body and stock wheels for quite awhile

I'll try to post some pictures later of the engine and exhaust.

Definitely looking forward to pics. I had my first chance to drive a stage 3 this past weekend (GT28RS setup) and it was damn impressive. You must be loving the upgrade.

Lmao - I want you to keep that car for another year and a half. I'll pay cash for it at that point - gotta pay off the Odyssey first. I'm dead serious.
