Default a4 clutch to s4 or rs4 clutch?

so i did some research on if i could upgrade my clutch to an s4 or rs4 clutch. you know the whole kit like the pressure plates, throwout bearing etc. somebody posted that ecstuning's stage 1-3 kit for the a4 are from the rs4. is that correct? also, does anybody know how the pedal will feel after the swap? also, how much does the s4 or rs4 flywheel weigh? i sort of want to keep everything semi stock but i don't want an oem a4 replacement.and will i need anything else like?

You can't directly bolt on an S4 or RS4 clutch on an A4, the ECS tuning kit comes with a modified flywheel so you an bolt it up.
The S4 and RS4 clutch really won't have that much pedal effort over the stock A4 one.

get a southbend clutch, they're cheaper and the stage 2 and 3 have virtually the same pedal effort as stock. my DD has a stage 5 clutch and honestly my stock mustang 5.0 clutch was harder

As for the flywheel, RPM Machine shop on Broad Street (the candy store I was telling you about, with the hot tanks, engine dyno, cylinder head flow bench, etc) can resurface yours. Rick did my twin-turbo flywheel, including machining the .008" step in it, for $30. Unless it's actually damaged, a resurface will probably be fine, provided there's no screwy stuff about Audi flywheels that prevents resurfacing.

Cryo treatment is a heat/cold cycling that is done to regularize the part at the molecular level to increase its strength.

hey jeremy, RPM said they can't resurface a dual mass one because they don't have the machinery. he said he's heard of an adapter for him machine but he's never seen one lol.

No kidding? That surprises me, given the toys he has at that shop and the length of time he's been doing this stuff. I got a call from a buddy from way back today, about buying the Z possibly this weekend. He's a domestic race guy (chevy small blocks) but I'll ask him if he knows anyone around who does that stuff. Also, I will email a buddy in Syracuse and find out what they've got up there for engine building shops - maybe in a larger market like that, there'll be someone who can handle it.

The other thing is, you may not even need to resurface it - it's not always necessary. Keep that in mind too.
