A4 totally dead
Hi
Wondered of anyone could point me in the right direction. I have an Audi A4 quattro estate, an old gentleman who I have owned for the last 14 years since he was 5 and has always been a really reliable car. Last Tuesday he was used and ran perfectly but two days later when I went to get him out of the garage the remote would not work, No problem I thought I'll open him manually which I did but he was totally dead. No lights, no attempts at a turnover just nothing there whatsoever. Nothing had been left on but I tried to jumpstart the battery but nothing. Has anyone any idea what it might be. I suppose my real question is is it likely to be terminal or has this happened to someone before and can they tell me where to start looking. Thanks Lynne

As you have stated I would start with the terminals. I have had issues with my terminals before where I would drive and mid drive the car will switch of for a split second and turn back on and other times it would die completely. My issue was the terminals were burnt up pretty bad hence had a bad connection to the battery resulting in a completely dead car. Start from here and post back.

A faulty ignition switch wouldn't kill the power to the entire car. Your battery was likely drained by leaving your lights on or something like that. I have a 2001 Audi and the lights on warning after shutting the car off is barely audible. Easy to kill a battery if lights were left on over night. Best thing to do is put a car battery charger on the battery and see if your interior lights come on. If they do then let the battery charge over night and then try starting it the next day (remember to disconnect the battery charger first before trying to start it).
